Subject: The president of WAHA visit to Africa

The president of WAHA, Mr. Joseph Tamba visited Foya Statutory District and held several meetings with the Statutory District’s authorities concerning WAHA.
Mr. President of WAHA arrived on December 2, 2012 at the hour of 7.00am, in Foya Statutory district Lofa County-Liberia. Upon his arrival, several meetings where held with the statutory authorities/officials, Foya Borma Hospital Administration and Handicaps groups in Foya statutory district Lofa county.
On December 2, 2012 at the hour of 3:00 pm, a subsequence meeting was held between the WAHA President Mr. Joesph Tamba and the statutory District Officials in the office of the Statutory District superintendent, which include the paramount chief, the Commissioner, Magistrate and the superintendent. The superintendent highly welcomes the WAHA president Mr. Joseph Tamba. In this meeting, the Commissioner, paramount chief, Magistrate and the superintendent promised to give additional lands to the previous one that was given before in case of any construction, After the WAHA President Mr. Joseph Tamba briefly explained the history aims of WAHA and what WAHA intent to do in future for the disable group if God Allows in Jesus’ name. He thanks the authorities of the district for the land provided by them and also their efforts towards the handicaps
At the hour of 4:45pm another meeting was held between WAHA president Mr. Joseph Tamba and the Director of the Foya Borma Hospital which include the hospital Administration. One of the point discussed in that meeting was for the president of WAHA Mr. Joseph Tamba and the Administrator of the Foya Borma Hospital (Mr. Francis Fondia) to pay a visit to Monrovia and meet with the Minister of Health to discuss with him concerning the Duty-Free application document in other to receive what so ever medical equipment that will come from the America to Liberia.
The 4th and 5th of December 2012, the president of WAHA Mr. Joseph Tamba held a meeting with the disable group, before his arrival at the meeting hall, the handicaps were jubilating singing and dancing for the first time seeing their president. They were very much excited and warmly appreciate the effort of the president.
Many concerns were raised by the handicaps, some of those were:
- Ø They are not consider in the society
- Ø Their plights are not seeing
- Ø Their children are not learning due to abject poverty
- Ø Not good medication for them in the community hospital
- Ø Lack of wheel-chairs, crushes
- Ø Lack of good clothes
- Lack of enough food
- Ø No good medication
- Ø No good care for them and their families
- Ø No training center or office for them
- Ø No good housing
- Ø Eye glasses for the blind
- Ø IDD day celebration (International Day of the Disable Celebration)
At the end of the meeting, the president of WAHA distributed two (2) cartons of biscuit to the handicaps as refreshment watches few and eye glasses were distributed.
Below listed are the Materials received by WAHA- Liberia from the president of WAHA Mr. Joseph Tamba:
- Ø One (1) new HP laptop computer
- Ø One (1) used laptop computer
- Ø One (1) digital camera
- Ø Nine (9) watches for the blind for Monsurrado & Lofa County
- Ø One (1) eye glasses
The last meeting was held with the chair-man of WAHA Monsurrado branch and that of Lofa staff to encourage them to continue the hard work, indicating that one day the Lord will reward them for their good work.
After all the meetings held with various department and authorities in the Republic of Liberia, the president of WAHA Mr. Joseph Tamba visited various disable groups in the streets of Monrovia before his departure to the State and their plights are mention above in the concern raised
