Disability is Never Inability!

WAHA is both a ministry and a mission whose goals are somewhat different than many other African missions. You see, we are dedicated to an oft forgotten segment of African society that is often left  to fend for themselves, when they are the least able to do so.

Our organization strives to provide socialization, trauma counseling, Braille instruction for the blind, computer training, skill training, adaptive equipment, and support to disabled individuals in West Africa and the United States, helping our clients to achieve greater self-reliance, usefulness, and dignity.

WAHA/USA is a non-profit corporation in New York State, and has a close working relationship with WAHA in Liberia, though they are two separate entities. WAHA in Liberia is certified by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs to operate in Liberia as a Non-Governmental Organization, and their articles of Incorporation have been certified by the Liberian National Registry.  In addition, they are registered with the Liberian Business Directory, which is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Social Security and Welfare Administration in Liberia. WAHA in Africa also has a memo of understanding with the Foya Statutory District Authorities and District Health Practitioners in Foya District, Liberia, that those authorities and practitioners will utilize any medical items provided or donated  by WAHA free of charge to disabled individuals, and will also maintain any such equipment.
